Surratt Beauty creator Troy Surratt is one of the beauty industry’s most sought-after and respected makeup artists. After moving to New York from his native Kansas to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of design, Troy cold-called Kevyn Aucoin on a dare seeking work as an assistant.
This fateful phone call launched his career working under the tutelage of the legendary artist.
He went on to conceptualize and create Tarte, one of the first indie color cosmetics lines, with entrepreneur Maureen Kelly, and served as a spokesperson for the original internet beauty destination, Beauty.com. Several years later, Troy was tapped as Global Consulting Makeup Artist for Maybelline New York, where he developed products, directed creative concepts, and served as key international makeup artist for the L’Oréal-owned brand.
Surratt Beauty is the result of nearly a decade of research, comprising a complete collection of bespoke products inspired by the unaparalleled artistry and skill of Japanese technology and quality. While developing the line, Troy regularly traveled to Japan to seek out top-tier artisans, materials, and pigments, and crafted each product with an eye toward innovation and artistry, resulting in a truly breakthrough—and transcendent—collection.
Since launching in October 2013, Surratt Beauty has gained a reputation as the premiere color cosmetics line among beauty insiders and consumers alike. In 2015, Troy was named “Beauty Innovator of the Year” by Refinery29, and Surratt Beauty products regularly win Allure’s “Best of Beauty” awards, along with other prestigious industry accolades.

A skilled color master, Troy is known for his professional grace, ardent dedication, and attention to detail. His expertise and artistry are sought after by top editors, influencers, and beauty professionals worldwide, as well as a dedicated celebrity clientele. Surratt Beauty is available at top retailers, including Sephora, Barneys New York, and Space NK.
